30 Days to better fitness with McDonald’s
Ok...I’ve never done a blog before, but since I’m turning 40 today and starting a new fitness venture, now is a perfect time to start!
As many of you know, I have 25 years experience in the fitness industry. I’ve owned and operated Excel Personal Training for 8 of those years with my beautiful wife Lisa. One of the biggest concerns I have is with the direction our culture is taking with regards to personal responsibility.
Tuesday I was driving from a group exercise class I taught and was listening to CNBC on the radio. The program was about the McDonald’s corporation and emphasized how bad McDonald’s is and how they play a major role in America’s obesity epidemic.
This absolutely irked me since I cant recall a single time a McDonald’s employee shoved food in an individual’s mouth. People order what they want and eat it. If they’re gaining weight, they need to eat less. Its pretty simple.
Therefore, I’ve committed to eat for the next 30 days, only McDonald’s food and beverage (with exception to water). I will have one day off, this Saturday 11/14, since Lisa is having a surprise party for me;-) Other than that, it’s only McDonald’s. I will use their website to help make healthier choices, and at the end of the 30 days I will prove that people can lose weight and get in shape if they make more responsible choices and exercise.
This morning I had my blood drawn after a 12 hour fast. Two trainers at Excel, Sal and Neil, put me through a vigorous fitness evaluation, which included body weight, percentage body fat, anthropometric measurements, 12-minute run, sit and reach, leg press, push ups, 1 minute sit ups, bench press, pull ups, and bar dips. We recorded the scores and posted them on twitter.
If you’d like to follow my eating, exercise, and results, you can follow me on twitter as fastfoodfitness or just come hear again to read more.
